The mighty Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl 2022 Team (aka The Wolfpack) is composed of 31 riders of ten different nationalities including three Neo Pros.
It is its 20th year of the team among the UCI World Tour and it remains strong as ever.
Wolfpack team includes many talented riders like the Double World Champion; Julian Alaphilippe. Other big names include Remco Evenepoel, Mark Cavendish, Fabio Jackobsen and the list goes on and on.
Michael “Rusty” Woods is not a typical bike racer. He used to be a used to be a professional runner until 2011. But stopped his running career after running stress injuries. He switched to road bike racing at age 25 and turned Neo Pro at age 29. Making him one of the oldest “Neo Pro” on the UCI World Tour circuit at the time.
That’s a huge accomplishment in itself! You might be wondering why I am taking the time to explain these facts when I could have went straight to the point with his bike size.
Let’s go to the facts, by reading further you will find out the following details about “Rusty” Woods:

This is the beginning of a new era in road bike cycling; The end of 11 speed.
Shimano released its long-awaited 12-speed groupset on the last week of the Vuelta 2021. Despite being glued to my laptop screen I could not spot any pros finishing the Vuelta a Espana with the new 12-speed groupset. The Vuelta 2021 was thus the last Grand Tour raced (and Won!) on an 11-speed road bike.
The first Pro rider to be officially racing on Shimano’s new 12 speed Dura-Ace groupset is Mathieu Van Der Poel.
No need to introduce who is Mathieu Van Der Poel (aka MVDP) here since you must be knowing him since you landed on this page.
I’ll spare you time and jump straight to the fun part of reviewing Mr. Van Der Poel’s Canyon Aeroad CFR 2022 bike size and set up.

23 teams of 8 riders start the Spanish Grand Tour that is held for three weeks.
Among the 23 teams, 6 teams are racing with 12 speeds (Campagnolo / Sram)while the remaining 17 teams are racing with only 11 speeds (Shimano / FSA).
Only one team is racing with rim brakes, the Team Ineos – Grenadier.
If the last two edition of La Vuelta have been won on rim brakes by Primož ROGLIČ , this year the odds are thin for the Vuelta to be won on rim brakes as Primož is now on disc.
Will the Vuelta be won by disc brakes bike or rim brakes? Whichever is fine, I only gather facts and have no particular preference. For sure the rim brakes era is fading away.
