  • Giro D’Italia 2019 Bikes Teams & Stages Details

    The elevator speech to present the 102nd edition of the mythical Giro D’Italia is 3 weeks of racing across Italia beautiful landscape with 18 teams composed of 8 riders starting the race and hoping to cover a total of 3,518.5 km and 21 stages which are 3 Individual Time Trial (TT) stages, 6 low difficulties stages, 7 medium difficulties stages, 5 high difficulties stages.

    The Giro D’Italia is the first of the three “Grand Tours” of the season. The Giro is exciting to watch as the scenery is fantastic and the roads style makes it “nervous” and filled with action racing.

    For this trail MTB the objective was to create a simple bike that roll up and down the single tracks and gravel roads of Japan Alps.

    As the bike is aimed at rolling on smooth trails it was designed with a rigid fork, the addition of low pressure wide section tires ensure a bit of comfort and extra grip on rugged surface. (more…)

    – As I was watching the winner of the final stage of the Tour of Sicily (Giro di Sicilia) crossing the Finish line on top of Mount Etna I was wondering why on earth I never heard about this exciting 4 days stage race across the beautiful Sicilian island?
    Then after a quick search I discovered the reason I never heard of it was because 42 years have passed since the last time the Sicilian race was held. (more…)

    Watch the UCI World Tour 2019

    Every year I watch most of the UCI World Tour race live as they are broadcasted on most of the organizing countries national TVs. The good side of being in Japan is that all European races live broadcast correspond to the evening in Japan.

    The 2019 UCI World Tour includes one day “Classic” races and goes up to three weeks “Grand Tour” like the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a Espana. (more…)

    26 inches ain’t dead!

    Today I will introduce you to my favorite bike: The Spartacus

    It is a 26 inches “All Roads” Full titanium bike I envisioned first while riding Japan Alpine roads around Takayama (高山市), Gifu Prefecture when living in that area more than 10 years ago.

    I wanted to build a totally versatile bike that is equally at ease on roads and off roads, able to climb up Alpine roads and enjoying the snaking, hair pin cornering exhilarating down hill roads in total comfort.

    I started the concept of designing 26″ wheeled road bikes in 2009 by building a first Beta version. Back then Disc brakes where not yet in full bloom for drop bar bikes so the 1st version was equipped with V-Brakes.

    Now a decade passed since my first 26″ All Road bike iteration and along with some frame geometry fine tuning and the emergence of various standard helping me to create the perfect all mighty 26″ road bike. (more…)
